Patrick Burton is the Executive Director of the Centre for Justice and Crime Prevention (CJCP). Patrick holds an HDip (Development Planning) from the University of the Witwatersrand, and a MSc. (Urban and Regional Planning) from the University of KwaZulu-Natal. While at the CJCP, Patrick directed both sweeps of South Africa's national school-based violence studies, as well as quantitative studies into child and youth resilience to violence, and studies into the experience of online aggression and bullying amongst young people in South Africa. He is co-principal investigator on the Optimus Study South Africa – a national incidence and prevalence study into child abuse, violence and neglect.
