Bhagya Sivaraman is a trained social worker. She has worked for close to a decade on diverse issues related to children, women and families in both urban and rural settings. Her previous stint at NalandaWay Foundation, Chennai looked at building the self-esteem of children hailing from difficult socio-economic backgrounds in Tamil Nadu through the medium of arts. She contributed to their program design and development, implementation, and internal monitoring and evaluation of 35 residential art-camps. Her keen interest in academia has also helped her serve as a guest lecturer for undergraduate and graduate social work programs in Stella Maris College, Chennai and Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai, India.
Bhagya holds double Masters degrees – MA in Social Work (Disability Studies and Action) from Tata Institute of Social Sciences, India and an MSc in Evidence-Based Social Intervention from the University of Oxford, UK. Currently, she is an associate fellow of the Royal Common Wealth Society, London. At Know Violence in Childhood, she serves as a Research Consultant.
